Innovation podcasts launched

During this time of isolation and distance learning, the Rideau Hall Foundation is pleased to announce a new series of French-language podcasts, produced in partnership with Ottawa-based Carte Blanche for Radio-Canada, about great Canadian innovations that have changed the world.

The series of eight podcasts, aimed at youth aged from 9 to 12 years, covers innovations like the zipper, the goalie mask, the canoe, basketball, and more. All the innovations are drawn from the book for  young readers,  Innovation Nation: How Canadians Made the World Smarter, Smaller Kinder, Safer, Healthier, Wealthier, Happier, written by former Governor General of Canada David Johnston, and Tom Jenkins.

The podcasts are available in French only, but are excellent tools for parents and teachers looking for French-language content for at-home learning. Listen to the series on the Radio Canada website, or on the app OHdio.

This series forms part of the Rideau Hall Foundation’s Education for Innovation (E4I) resources. These free, bilingual, K-12 lesson plans can be used by parents and teachers alike to keep kids learning and engaged during this period of distance learning. The E4I resources introduce students to inspiring Canadian innovations and guide learners through the four phases of the Innovation Cycle. Students are inspired to inquire, ideate, incubate, and implement their innovations to make an Impact!
