StoryMaps of Indigenous Teacher Education Programs
We are launching a unique interactive platform designed to recognize, highlight and celebrate Indigenous Teacher Education from coast to coast to coast.
The RHF collaborated with Canadian Geographic and engaged with Indigenous language speakers and educators from across Canada to share stories of the past, present and future of the Teacher Education Programs (TEPs), their communities and the resounding impact of their contributions to Indigenous teacher education.
Using StoryMaps, this interactive platform showcases the evolution of Indigenous Teacher Education Programs (ITEP) in Canada and the impact on those who have benefited nationwide.
StoryMaps offer a rich multimedia experience that allows readers to deeply engage with the story of each ITEP. Additional StoryMaps will be introduced throughout the summer of 2024, and a feature
article will appear in the 2024 September/October issue of Canadian Geographic magazine highlighting personal stories from Indigenous teachers.
StoryMaps to be featured include:
- Northwest Territories Teacher Education Program (NWTEP) – NT
- Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP) – ON
- Indian Teacher Education Program (ITEP) – SK
- Indigenous Education Program (NITEP) – BC
