Since 2016, the Rideau Hall Foundation and the Mastercard Foundation have worked in partnership to address issues facing Indigenous peoples in Canada, especially youth. This partnership seeks to support existing and new pathways for Indigenous young people towards meaningful employment as defined by young people.
This year, the two foundations convened Indigenous youth, as well as senior leaders from national organizations in the philanthropic, education, community and private sectors, to explore our collective role in advancing Indigenous youths’ aspirations for themselves and their communities. The result is a comprehensive report that clearly articulates youths’ voices, as well as a series of important recommendations around what constitutes “a good life.”
The Rideau Hall Foundation’s intention in this report, and in the activities over the past year, is to deeply listen and most importantly, act by mobilizing, networking, and activating solutions Indigenous youth want to see in their respective communities, organizations, and society. The RHF is committed to continuing its support for this vision for change.

To further achieve the organisation’s vision of a better Canada for all peoples, the RHF recently created the position of Director of Indigenous and Northern Relations. Bill Mintram, previously Senior Manager of Indigenous Relations with the Canadian Red Cross, joined the RHF team in the summer of 2019. He will provide leadership on Indigenous and northern engagement across all RHF activities, and ensure our work is conducted through the lens of reconciliation.
