As Canada looks to strengthen its economy, build resilience, and chart its own path in an increasingly uncertain world, one thing is becoming clear: Canadians are eager to celebrate the people, ideas, and organizations shaping our future.
That energy was on full display during Canadian Innovation Week 2026. From May 11–15, organizations from across the country came together under the theme Local Roots, Global Reach, showcasing how Canadian ideas are solving local challenges while making an impact around the world.
Now that the numbers are in, they confirm what many of us felt throughout the week. There was a renewed sense of enthusiasm behind Canadian Innovation Week.

Returning partners came back with fresh energy, new voices joined the conversation, and Canadians proudly shared local successes that deserve to be seen and celebrated.
The online response reflected that same enthusiasm.
Throughout Canadian Innovation Week, content shared across social media reached 2.8 million people and generated more than 10 million impressions. Visits to the Canadian Innovation Space partner directory increased by nearly 570%, suggesting that people weren’t just celebrating innovation, they were actively looking to discover the organizations, companies, and innovators driving it.
One of the strongest themes to emerge this year was the breadth of innovation being celebrated. Canadian Innovation Week showed that innovation is not limited to one sector or industry. It is happening in classrooms, labs, startups, community organizations, public institutions, and established companies. It is showing up in health, climate, agriculture, housing, accessibility, education, and social impact. Together, these stories helped show innovation as something broader than technology alone, and deeply connected to the challenges and opportunities facing Canada today.
Canadian Innovation Week has always been about creating space for innovation to be seen and celebrated. This year demonstrated something even more meaningful: organizations aren’t simply participating because it’s on the calendar. They’re choosing to champion Canadian innovation because they recognize its importance in this moment.
Since its launch in 2018, Canadian Innovation Week has reached more than 101 million people, engaged over 11,000 contributors, and helped celebrate innovators making a difference in communities across the country. As we look ahead to the milestone 10th Canadian Innovation Week in 2027, we’re excited to build on this growing momentum and continue celebrating the ideas helping shape Canada’s future.
