OTTAWA – The Rideau Hall Foundation (RHF) is delighted to welcome Janice Charette, former Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet, public servant and diplomat, as Vice-Chair of its Board of Directors.
“Janice Charette brings to the RHF a deep and fundamental understanding of the challenges and opportunities this country faces, now and in the years to come. I look forward to working with Janice, benefiting from her wealth of experience as we continue to grow the RHF’s impact in communities across Canada, and showcase the excellence of Canada’s leaders and innovators here at home and on the world’s stage,” said Teresa Marques, President and CEO of the Rideau Hall Foundation.
Ms. Charette served as Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet under both Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. She was also appointed as the Canadian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. In 2023, she was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws from Carleton University and has volunteered her time with both the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group and the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University.
“Over a lifetime in the public service I have had the opportunity to get to know Canadians –their needs and interests – from every corner of the country. I’m now looking forward to deepening that relationship and understanding through the work of the Rideau Hall Foundation,” said Ms. Charette. “I’m thrilled to be joining such an accomplished Board of Directors and want to thank both The Right Honourable David Johnston, Chair of the Board and Founder of the RHF, as well as the Governance and Nominating Committee for this opportunity.”
The Rideau Hall Foundation would like to thank Huguette Labelle C.C., O.Ont.,as she completes her service as Vice-Chair of the Board of the RHF.
